6 SIMPLE actions to reduce exam stress

1. Drink lots of water. Keep those brain cells and all the other cells in your body hydrated! It's simple but it works. Hydrated cells are able to work. Dehydrated cells are going into protection mode.

2. Limit study sessions to 40 minutes and then take a break. Our brains aren’t going to retain much after 40 minutes. It's time to recharge!

3. Get outside and move your body. Exercising increases epinephrine and norepinephrine. These are the personal drive and focus neurotransmitters. Getting outside gets you away from your study space and allows you to clear your mind.

4. Diffuse Peppermint essential oil while studying. Peppermint oil has been proven in numerous studies to improve cognitive function, improve memory and problem-solving abilities and increase retention of learned material. The results have been published in several journals including the International Journal of Neuroscience.

5. Get sleep. An over tired mind doesn’t take in more information. In fact, it tends to narrow its ability to function to immediate needs. An over-tired mind isn’t going to link ideas, recognize patterns or
